Laramie, Wyoming

Laramie, Wyoming

Laramie is a college town, home to the University of Wyoming. Before that, it was a railroad town, settled along the path of the Union Pacific. Today, Laramie subtly contests Cheyenne‘s preeminence in the state with this bold claim: Laramie is the cultural capital of Wyoming. And even a casual visit to Laramie goes a long way toward supporting this claim.

Annual Jubilee Days celebrate Wyoming Statehood Day with events ranging from rodeos to carnivals to parades. The University of Wyoming boasts amazing museums, filled with art and history. If you come at the right time, you can catch a fishing derby, where anglers of all ages test their skill. And when the weather is fine, there is no better way to soak in the culture of Laramie than the Downtown Mural Walking Tour. More than 20 murals grace the area’s walls, many of them artfully placed in Laramie’s historic downtown. Each mural represents a piece of Wyoming’s history and culture, and each will dazzle the visitor with its detail and beauty.
